Three tapered steel legs rise up on a gentle angle to meet the wide mounting ring. Two rivets secure each leg, creating wonderfully solid joints. The upward angled chamfer of the hand marbled top mirrors the subtle flare of the legs.
Smooth sage, ivory white and smokey black in an angular but flowing arrangement, the segments defined by bright veins of white. The translucency of the colours allows you to see deep under the surface to the layers flowing underneath.
TG x WM LARGE SIDE TABLE SAGE
The table top is made using 100% recycled waste LDPE plastic in our Brighton & Hove studio. Each top is crafted by hand, and is totally unique in its marbling.
The legs are hand forged by Thomas Gontar using recycled steel in Glynde Forge, East Sussex.
This listing is for the exact recycled plastic top you will receive. Please note that the steel legs pictured may not be the exact ones you will receive, however they will be the same design.
Our table tops have a mostly smooth satin surface, however, please be aware there may be some surface irregularities such as:
-
Dips, where an air pocket became trapped as the plastic was being pressed
-
Shallow ‘cracks’, where the different colours have met during the layering process
-
Shiny spots, from minute changes in temperature
-
‘Growth rings’ (slight change in surface texture, alternating between shiny and satin), which show each pull on the handle of the hydraulic press as the piece was being pressed into the mould
These are all part of the handmade process, and add character to each piece!
Please note that due to the nature of recycling used plastic, our products may contain fabric fibres, splinters and the occasional piece of glitter, despite every effort being made to remove them. These come from the garments/products which the plastic bags originally contained when they were single-use packaging.
The Weez & Merl logo (WM) and the recycling symbol for LDPE (♻4) feature debossed on the reverse of the table top. The Thomas Gontar (TG) logo features stamped into the bottom of one of the steel legs.
Due to the nature of forging by hand, and the use of recycled steel, the colour, texture and rivets will vary slightly: each piece is subtly unique.
If you would like to commission us for a piece, we may be able to create something for you - please get in touch via email (hello@weezandmerl.com) or through the contact box on our website.
